The company owes its name to the hamlet of the same name, situated between the Tufo area and the mediaeval town of Torrioni, in the province of Avellino.

The hilly area where Sanpaolo winery stands, together with the plots of land in the hills, is home to 20 hectares of vines, grown at altitudes of up to more than 700 metres. The grapes there benefit from intense daily sunshine and strong changes in temperature, which bring out the aroma. Here the white grapes are turned into the well-known Fiano di Avellino D.O.C.G., Greco di Tufo   D.O.C.G. and Falanghina I.G.T., and the red Aglianico grapes give us the wine of the same name, and the more prestigious Taurasi D.O.C.G. But what really characterises the Avellino area is the great diversity of soils in which the vines grow, ranging from clay/ limestone soils to sandy soils with elements of volcanic

ash from Somma- Vesuvius Volcano.
The staff of Sanpaolo winery wants to get the full benefit of the potential of the Irpinia area and are not content to select the raw material based on the two classic parameters of variety and vineyard quality. Instead, they go beyond that, in search of the third dimension of purity, Purity of Place, creating a wine that becomes a three-dimensional expression of the land, variety, and tradition.

The result of this continual research is the selection of particular crus, obtained from tiny areas selected for their unique features and cultivated with passion.
The work of Sanpaolo winery is the tangible result of years in the trade, ancient know-how and an ongoing quest for excellence. Here unmistakable flavours and aromas are created, celebrating the precious fruits of the Campania region and bringing some of the most interesting wines in Italy to fame.
